This router is a powerful piece of equipment, quite versatile and rugged. The plunge feature is smooth and easy to use; highly ergonomic in design. The fixed base is comfortable and easily handled with one hand using a small round over bit. Instructions are easy to read and follow. The carrying case, however, is large and cumbersome, difficult to store. Looking forward to years of good service from this high quality product.

I’ve been needing a good dependable router to add to my collection of usable power tools. Thank Goodness for the Amazon Reviews to help me in the selection process. Although I am not a professional wood worker, I wanted something capable of more than merely occasional projects. I’ve already used this one and gotta say it is the best and easiest to use router I’ve ever owned. Yes, the case is big – yada yada. But look at all the storage availability inside. Not only does this case protectively nestle the router and both bases, but also has provisions for many different accessories. Allows you to keep your router and all your accessories in one convenient location. Would I recommend it? Hell Ya!

This is the first router I’ve owned, although not the first I’ve used, so interpret my comments in that light. I’ve been impressed with how well-built and easy to use this tool is. The height adjustment works well, changing bases is easy, and all the features seem to work as designed. Changing bits is a two-wrench operation but for my uses that’s not really an issue. The case is sturdy, and has storage for all kinds of accessories, including many that don’t come with the kit. The case is huge, however, so be prepared to give up some serious space in your workshop.

I picked up this router kit on sale for $126.00 with free shipping and no tax. You can not buy even the plunge base for that price. Great tool and an incredible value. Buy it NOW.

I went in to buy a Bosch and found this kit. This is a great tool. I am an intermediate woodworker-it is a hobby of mine. My daughter is a TA in wood shop at her school so maybe it runs in the family. Have used other routers. I love the palm grip. Gives you great control. Changing out the the bases is a snap, no tools required. The other routers I have used in the past require two wrenches to change bits so it was easy on this tool. The micro adjustment for depth works very well. Power switch is right where it should be. First Milwaukee tool for me. Only minor annoyance is that the case is huge. Overall, I am very pleased.

I’ve tested this tool on a variety of materials, it performs as advertised. My project for this tool is to cut in a larger doggie door in an exterior man door that is a foam filled sheet metal construction. I’ve done this before with long metal cutting blades in a Bosch jigsaw, it was a jarring experience. I expect no problems this time. I’m a 37 year experienced cabinetmaker, I own and I’m familiar with virtually all hand-held power tools.

I tried to purchase this produce from the company it self. Can you say SCAM!!! Don’t order it from the dual saw website. No matter what kind of payment options they offer you!! This was easy and pain free and the product itself really does cut through steel like a hot knife through butter.

This device runs and operates exactly as advertised. I cut everything I could think just to be sure. Any professional or serious amateur should have one in the tool kit. On the job site it is the only portable saw needed. Heavy and well made, it should have a long life. Perhaps expensive, but will pay for itself quickly

I received this product as a trial and it did not work right out of the box. I was charged $9.95 for the trial. When I returned the product I was charged another $29.99 for shipping although they gave me some “authorization number” that would have qualified for free return shipping. I basically paid $40 for a product that I did not even have a chance to try. On top of that, this company has one the worst customer service systems. I had seen a video promo on TV about this product and it does everything it promised. I especially love it for working on crown mouldings and baseboards as we live in a very old house and I am currently renovating….As a female hobbyist I find this tool very easy to use and to handle. I would recomend it as a must to any workshop.

I bought this product for a specific purpose (removal of a broken tile). It did the job well enough, but I found, as other reviewers have done,that the attachment screw worked loose very easily. This problem was reduced when I placed less pressure on the machine and let it do the job itself. I think it will prove to be a useful enough tool to have around, especially for smaller cutting and sanding jobs. However, it is expensive.

Used tool to cut door moulding bottoms in preparation for laying tile. Worked great!! Especially liked ability to mount blade at ~90 degree angle to get into a corner. Blade cut the moulding like butter. Initially, blade vibrated loose, but tightened the screw a little tighter and had no more problems. Tool is reasonably quiet–more of a low level hum than a buzz. Comes with decent case. Definitely would buy again.

I’ve used this tool while remodeling my bathroom this month. I cut an exact rectangle in the bottom of a cabinet to accommodate an air conditioning duct and it fit perfect. I used the scraper to get old lining paper out from the drawers. I sanded in tight places that I normally would have to do by hand. I have never had such an exact cutting and sanding tool like the Sonicrafter. This is the perfect tool if remodeling is the job your doing.

So, this is my first weekend with 37-pice Sonicrafter. The job is to strip layers of old paint from a metal radiator cover. I mounted the scraper on, dialed up the variable speed to recommended high and went ahead only applying gentle pressure. After 5 minutes I had to remove my hand from the metal front area. It became way too hot to touch. As a matter of fact, I would never use any other tool at this temperature. To Sonicrafter’s credit it didn’t produce any smoke and kept turning it off every 10-12 minutes. Contacted Rockwell’s Customer Service and was advised to exchange the unit. At this point I am not sure if exchange is the right way. Maybe I should shell out more dollars and step up to Multimaster?

Rugged well-built saw which does everything I’ll ever need on the farm. Great service and lowest price from Amazon. I always read reviews on Amazon purchases before I buy, so this is my thanks for other reviewers.

Sawzall has plenty of power. Quick lock chuck makes it easy to install & remove blades.Tracks well for accurate cuts. Cut five 10′ aluminum loading dock gates in half accurately, no binding w/ power to spare. Saw shipped minus the wood blade. Called Milwaukee & they shipped a blade within 3 days, in fact they even sent a spare. My next power tool will be a Milwaukee even if I have to pay a little more for it, in this case the saw was very reasonable priced.

Milwaukee still makes great tools. I’ve heard some of their new stuff is hecho en Mexico, but this one’s still made in the good ol’USA. Even being the smaller of their Sawzalls, it’s still powerful enough to get through 2x6s and 3-4 diameter tree branches with ease, when you choose the appropriate blades. Speaking of which, I bought a Bosch combo pack, and couldn’t be happier. Milwaukee tools and Bosch blades; great together. Then again, anything with Bosch blades.

I purchased this Sawzall to use mostly in Autobody restoration, but have found that it has many more uses than that. I have used this saw for everything from cutting out some old water pipes from my house, to removing tree roots, to cutting up scrap wood to fit in the mulcher. What started as a tool to use on automobiles for me has turned into the most often used tool in my garage. It has plenty of power for what I have used it for to this point, and Milwaukee offers a nice selection of blades for it. My only complaint would be that it didn’t come with more of a variety of the available blades. Two was just not enough to have right off the bat.

Bought this last year and my main purpose for it, was to cut down my daughter’s aluminum swing set. My wife pulled me aside one day to remind me that Kati was 21 and probably wouldn’t be using it all that much, you know, her being 4 hours away at college and all. This thing was huge and took up a large portion of one side of the yard. When I put it in, I guess I feared a Hurricane (not something we regularly experience here in Northern Michigan), since I put 100 pounds of concrete in each leg hole. So, needless to say, I couldn’t just put an add in the paper for someone to come by and pick it up for their kids. Long story short, I hoped that the Sawzall would be my answer, and it was. I spent an enjoyable afternoon cutting up the thick aluminum, as the saws blades went through it like the proverbial hot knife through butter. It was very cool. I have used it a couple times since, but feel good just knowing it is there when needed. Just buy it, you won’t regret it!

Weller WLC100 Soldering Station Review
I purchased this needing to do a very delicate (several hour long) solder job, and I needed more than just the little handheld I keep around the house. I used to work professionally in the electronics repair business, but had long since gotten rid of my tools. This is a very well built soldering station that really holds up. If you are a beginner or professional, you will appreciate the ease of use and nice soldering this station allows you to do. The temperature control makes it great for a multitude of projects. In short, don’t be fooled by the low price. This station will perform as well as any $100.00+ unit out there.

I use a Weller WES51 Weller WES51 Analog Soldering Station, Power Unit, Soldering Pencil, Stand and Sponge at work doing work on circuit boards. I’ve got probably 24 hours of use on the WES51 so far. I bought the WLC100 for use at home on hobby and DIY work because it is half the price of the WES51. The biggest differences I have seen being: The WLC100 takes MUCH longer to reach operating temperature(but the WES51 only takes 20-30 seconds) and doesn’t have the same ability to hold operating temperature when doing large joints. With that said, it’s as solid a unit as I’ve used besides my WES51 and can get every job done that should be needed by a hobbyist. If you are planning to use this for long periods of professional work, I suggest going stepping up, but for smaller jobs this is the station to get.

After exrpessing a lot of frustration to our internal tech guy I took his advice and finally broke down and bought a good iron. Wow. This ain’t your daddy’s $3 iron that’s for sure! Tasks that were a huge pain in the kiester become straightforward. Small jobs are an absolute breeze. Do yourself a favor and spend the dough on a good iron. You’ll wonder why you waited so long.

This is a nice soldering station at a fraction of the price of professional models. The temperature control is not as precise as more expensive models but is good enough for general use. The standard tip supplied with the unit is too large for most electronic work, but other tips are available for under $10. When I received the unit, the soldering iron did not fit into the holder. Apparently the plastic collar on the iron was warped. I filed it down a bit, and then it was OK.

I am a regular purchaser on Amazon. It’s a Dremel and it performs to the standard you would expect from a old time company like Dremel. I am very happy with the purchase. As usual Amazon ships quickly and often gets to me long before the delivery date they show. The battery stays charged even when not in the charger Dremel states will hold 80% charge for four months without being in the charger..The free shipping on items over $25 is a no brainer.

Whenever a manufacturer presents a tool powered by batteries, it is my opinion that the re-charge of said battery should, at least, be close to the time it takes to drain the power through use of the tool. I purchased THREE batteries for use in my Lithium-Ion Cordless Dremel, and still had to wait an hour and a half when It ran out of gas. UNACCEPTABLE. I figured that I would need two more batteries, and another charger, or two, to be able to work constantly with this tool. Dremel, please find a way to reduce the charging time from three hours to one, and, market a charger that can charge multiple batteries at once. Until you do that, this tool is more of an interesting toy than anything else. Please note, I give these tools HEAVY use, and I will ALWAYS recommend Dremel products. Just not the battery powered ones at this time, unless your jobs are short, and light duty.

Before Hurricane Katrina, we were living in an apartment in Bay St. Louis, MS, and building a house nearby. The house under construction and our apartment were destroyed, totally. Almost everything we owned was stored in a commercial storage unit that was under 20 feet of water. We could not get to the unit for three weeks and when we did, there was no electricity and everything was knee-deep in stinking mud, dark, and rusted. The only way I could get into my storage unit was with the diamond cutting wheel on my Dremel 800 — I used it to cut the shank off the high-security lock on the unit. The owner of the units was so impressed he asked me to find a Dremel 800 in Baton Rouge, LA, and bring it to him. We set up a shuttle of charged batteries and replacement wheels — he used his Dremel to cut off over 150 locks on storage units. Everything in our unit was a total loss but the Dremel performed flawlessly.

This can be very handy when you need a Dremel tool but can’t or don’t want to get out the extension cord. Biggest drawback is that it Stalls way too easily and that trips the internal circuit breaker. Then you have to shut off the tool, wait a few seconds, then you can turn it back on. That means that a lot of simple quick jobs are going to take a lot longer than they should have. Only option is to be very very careful not to Stall the tool but then it will still take longer to finish the job. I’m not using this tool anywhere near what I had hoped to, instead I’m getting the extension cord out and using my regular Dremel. Other drawback is that the Battery Packs are very expensive considering their size and power. I would still buy it but overall I’m disappointed with this tool and will continue to look for an alternative that doesn’t have this tool’s problems.

I use this router in a home hobby shop. I am very happy with the performance of this tool. The only down side is the location of the on off switch. I would prefer a triger mount to the toggle switch provided.

This unit was easy to assemble and has nice design features. Its smaller 6 gallon size makes using it on a regular basis a breeze. You will not break your back lugging it around. The Shop Vac has a large handle on top and pulls easily on four large swiveling casters. It comes with an effective air filter that gets the job done. Also included, is one disposable bag. I recommend the purchase of additional bags – they come in a handy three-pack. However, if you don’t mind dumping Shop Vac’s contents manually, then please disregard my suggestion. My main use for this machine is keeping my large front porch area clean and maintaining some semblance of a tidy garage floor. Obviously, the dry suction feature of the Shop Vac is the reason for my purchase. Given the excellent construction of this unit, I can only surmise that Shop Vac’s ability to suck-up standing water will be equally as impressive as it’s dry function has been for me. Final thought: This is an excellent value for under $60 if your needs are for ordinary standard usage.

This was bought as a replacement to a shop-vac that we had for years and finally quit for good. The vac was purchased for a small basement that serves as a large storm cellar. When it rains a great deal we get puddles and this vac does the job of getting rid of the wet while the size makes it convenient to dump into sump hole or tote upstairs if required.
Once in awhile our sump pump will fail and parts of the floor will be wet as a result. This vac is great for getting a wet floor dry again. The tank capacity is about as big as a person wants to lug around.

When this product first arrived it worked very well having a ton of suction. I am not sure what happened, but within 2-3 weeks the suction has decreased to the point that I do not use the product any longer. Cleaning the tank and filter does no good the the suction is basically gone.

When my husband requested a wet dry vac for Christmas I was a bit panic stricken as I know nothing about choosing that sort of product. After a little research I selected this item and hoped for the best. My husband who runs a plumbing and heating company has said this product has saved the day more then once. It’s great for cleaning up debris after a dirty job. His comments are that it has lots of power and suction, a good selection of attachments and it is very quiet. A great, reliable product at a good price. We recommend it.

Have had this kit for just under a year. The weight of the tools is phenomenal. Very light and excellent balance. The impact gun is pretty impressive. The drill, however, doesn’t really have the opp I was hoping for. And if you are doing a lot of drilling, expect your batteries to get very hot, and also to take a very long time to cool down before the charger will start charging them. I’ve had these guns heat up quite a bit while under heavy use, so much so that I’ve had to put gloves on. This is drilling into steel, by the way. These are great guns for the price and the weight, but under heavy usage (I’m a scenic carpenter in the entertainment industry), the drill is less than impressive. And the clutch just died on it. I’m going to stick with Makita, but I’m going for the more powerful guns.

I was a little hesitant to order this at first because the driver is listed as model number BHP452HW, while I really wanted the newer model BDF452HW. However, the description is wrong. It does come with the latest BDF model. This really is a great deal compared to buying the driver by itself. The tools have a great feel and I’m sure I’ll enjoy them for years to come.

This is the first impact driver I’ve used. It works great to get out stubborn screws without stripping the heads. You can screw straight into a knot of hardwood with this. It’s got torque to spare. The kit comes in a carrying case which is nice but if you want to put the drill or driver in your tool box you will find the universal charger to big to do so. Amazon ad said there’s a battery rebate to get another battery which did not come with the kit. So I guess I am out of luck on that. The kit doesn’t come with the belt clip so if you want one get it from ebay. Still this is the best driver kit at this price and can’t be beat.

Makita has made an excellent upgrade on their already fantastic impact drill, I upgraded from an old makita 12v combo set. I am very happy with this lightweight powerful combo. Both drivers are well balanced, the 1/2″ chuck on the drill is great, and the l.e.d light stays on for a few seconds after letting go of the trigger, this is really nice. Super fast charge, Lithium-ion batteries are awesome.

I have been using these tools every day at work and have never been more impressed with their performance. The light weight makes carrying them around a breeze and the battery life has been nothing short of amazing. The batteries recharge in what seems like no time at all (15min at the most, much less if they just need a topping-off). We use DeWalt tools as well and the Makita drills hold their own against these tools any day of the week. Cost-effective and they have yet to let me down, even through daily abuse indoors or out (Alaska). I would recommend these to anyone and our supply department is considering switching over to Makita tools based upon this purchase and a coworker’s.

I purchased this to help control weeds in my garden without using chemicals. Works great. You do have to use care since it is an open flame but if you follow the instructions and put a call into their customer service line for tips you’ll have great success. You do have to flame several times over the season but way easier and quicker than pulling weeds. I’ve had my torch for almost a year and have used it for many other things. It worked great for ice removal off of my steps and my husband uses it for heating up the block on his tractor and starting pit fires. I can’t wait until next Spring so I can start killing those unwanted weeds.

This is a terrific “green” alternative to chemical weed-killers. Just pass the business end of this propane torch over the leaves of your weeds and they wilt within a few days. Some of your tougher weeds may take repeated applications. It bears mentioning that if your weeds are in mulch, do this on a wet day and have a hose handy, just in case. I’ve set my mulch smoldering a couple of times. Also beware of any dry leaves you missed during Fall cleanup. They will make a merry blaze, too. This is not only terrific for cleaning out the weeds sprouting up through cracks in the sidewalk or driveway, but also clearing out weedy spots against chain link fences. Terrifically useful tool.

The tool works as advertised and is easy to use. However, for weed removal it is not entirely effective for existing weeds. To be fair, the documentation indicates that new weeds are manageable but for established weeds it may take several attempts. I found that I had to employ alternative methods to remove established weeds. It is, without doubt, best suited for removing new weeds from walkways, gravel paths, etc. As for fence lines it depends on what the surrounding environment is like and, as suggested in the guide, keep a fire extinguisher and water hose handy.

Great for destroying small areas of weeds. I purchased the torch for clearing out some stinging nettles and it did wonders. Needed to burn the nettles twice, about 5 days apart, to totally kill the plant. With a little practice, using the torch can become surgical in killing weeds around the plants you want to keep. If looking to clear larger areas, like bigger than say 10 x 20, a bigger torch might be easier and faster to use. Over long periods of use, hands become somewhat strained due to the straight angle of the handle. For easy mobility, I straped the propane tank to a 2 wheel hand truck and rolled it to where ever I needed to. Overall, a great purchase that will gets tons of use on my 7 acres.

Flame Engineering’s Weed Dragon Garden Torck works as advertised. Does kill those weeds dead when nothing else would. We live on a river and try to keep use of chemicals down to a minimum as we want to keep the river free of pollutants and other harmfull matter.

I bought this in a bit of an emergency situation and it helped greatly. We needed a tool that could do some “hand milling”, shaping, and filing of some small plastic parts to finish a mechanical engineering project for one of my classes. It worked really well on the plastic but when we tried using it to smooth some metal threaded rods, we chewed through a few files before the job was finished. I’m glad I bought this Dremel though because I’m sure I will be able to find some use for it in the future. The fact that this unit is cordless is also a huge help even though the batter only lasts about 20-30 minutes when used.

Overall a good useful tool for light duty use only. Battery life is very short and the cutting wheels are delicate. I’ve pretty much destroyed all my wheels and stones putting the dremel to tasks which it obviously can’t handle. The case is rugged and holds lots of bits and attachments.

I bought this Dremel because it was recommended as a good dog nail trimmer for fearful dogs. My older dog goes spastic at having her nails trimmed and I had hoped she would let me use this to trim her nails. She did not, as hard as I tried. I think it is because it is too loud. I would not recommend this for any dog that has fears of nail trimming. This tool is not the answer.

I purchased this dremel primarily for trimming my dogs nails. It is noisier than expected. It does not have a nail guard like the peticare. I read reviews before purchasing this. I am still learning to use this tool; the owners manual is good ;the cutting tools do not do the things I wanted it to do. I am a chainsaw carver and I was hoping to use the dremel for detail work. I don’t believe I have the attachments capable of those procedures.

I have 3 Dremels now: a regular AC variable speed model, a cordless that runs at 5 and 10 thousand rpm, and this one. The convenience of the cordless models causes the AC model to lay on the shelf most of the time. I advise anyone purchasing a Dremel to also buy the 4486 MultiPro Chuck. If you change tools frequently the chuck is really essential, and I have no idea how I could use my 1/32nd and smaller drills with the collects available. It seems to me that much of the criticism I read in the other reviews of this product are from people expecting the Dremel to be a substitute for an electric drill– In that regard I agree that it isn’t one. However, for someone doing highly detailed miniature work, the Dremel is an essential tool, and the two cordless models are the best of the lot. I have had no trouble with the battery coming loose on either cordless model, and I am quite satisfied with how long the charge will drive the machine, and the relatively short time needed to recharge them.

My dog’s breeder recommended this model to use for keeping the dog’s nails trimmed. Absolutely perfect for filing down her nails. I always put on a pair of gardening gloves (you know how puppies and dogs wiggle) and this cordless wonder works GREAT. Good price, great work. A very good buy.

I bought this to care for the black nails of our dog. I can take very small amounts of nail off at a time, and the nails are smoothed as I go. I started using it on the guinea pig, too, and she likes it much better than clippers. The Dremel is pretty quiet and runs for 15-20 minutes on one battery charge. It performs exactly as I hoped, and I’m very pleased.

The cordless Minimite is a perfect compliment to Dremel’s electric Moto-tools! This tool is great for quick jobs away from AC power. I recently installed car stereo speakers and the tool’s small size, fast speed, and availability of bits made the speaker cutouts in a confined space quick and easy. I strongly recommend having a spare battery for minimum down time.

I got this specifically to trim our dog’s nails. It does a great job for that… our dog didn’t pull away like she did with nail clippers. One thing you might need to know is that the tool pictured is not what you will get. You will get the newer model (or at least we did). Be careful… batteries for the older model do not fit this new one and vise-versa. The batteries for the newer model are round, not square so make sure if you’re buying an extra battery that you get the right one.

The Dremel MiniMite Cordless Drill-Pet Nail Trimming Tool is a work-horse. An excellent buy for the money. Convenient because you don’t get tangled up in the cord while trimming your pets nails – highly recommend this product to all pet owners!

This is an expensive tool with expensive accessories, but in my opinion well worth it. I am an auto mechanic by trade and a homeowner that loves and appreciates quality time saving tools. Since my purchase 2 months ago I have used this tool to pattern cut and install a bath surround, cut and install plastic molding(using a simple adjustable square),trimmed out paneling while on the wall, removed a glued vinyl bathroom floor (with ease), plunge cut and removed damaged soffit material( with such precision that the removed wood could be used as a pattern for the new replacement wood)and scrape old paint off my house corners and soft fits. I am very impressed with the tool quality and ease of changing attachments. The profile sanding attachment works good. The storage box could be of better quality but it serves it’s purpose. If I were to purchase this again I would probably buy a bare bones kit and choose my accessories separately. I have some attachments I will probably never use and would gladly trade for more wood and metal cutting blades. Hope this helps you out!

After working for hours, trying to remove old carpet from our RV, I knew there had to be a better way. When I saw the advertisement for the Fein on television, I just had to give it a try. My husband thought I was nuts for spending that much on a tool, but when he used it to cut sheet rock for our new den, he changed his mind. We also used it when we remodeled a bathroom. It worked well for smoothing out the rough surface under the tile we had removed. The attachments are a little expensive, but worth it if you have a back breaking job to do. I’m so glad I took a chance, and purchased the MultiMaster.

My cousin let me borrow his and I was hooked. I bought one specifically to help with installing some replacement windows. The e-cut blade was superior to a reciprocating saw or hacksaw for cutting through nails to remove trim. You don’t have to worry about it plunging farther than you want. Scraper blade removes caulk with almost no effort.

I hemmed and hawed over this purchase for months before I talked to someone in a forum about it. They had the older, single speed model and loved it. I decided to go with that one, the “start” kit at about $180. I have no doubt that had I got this deluxe kit, or even tried the quick change version I would have been spoiled for life and could never go back to my bare bones model, but since I paid less than half for mine and have never known the sweet taste of VS or quick change blades I am as happy as can be. My advice is do not wait any longer to get a MM. It is worth it and you will not regret it, but if you can’t swallow the big price go for the older cheaper model. You will still be able to do everything you want this tool for, just not as luxuriously.

Weller WES51 Analog Soldering Station Review
I have owned Weller products since the 60′s w/am old handheld I purchased at Lafayette Electronics in Baton Rouge, LA. This is an upgrade from the orange station Weller makes, I got at Sears, that eventually died. This particular station really does a quick job of heating and the variable switch make it easy to change when different levels of heat are required. I am really pleased with it. My only complaint is that the cord on the wand could be about a foot longer, but that’s OK. I just move it closer to my work.

I bought this for home and hobby use. It meets those needs nicely. I bought several extra tips and some solder removal wicks as well. This is a big improvement over my older pencil solder guns, which had poor temperature control. The vendor (HMC Electronics) has a good web site for ordering and shipped on time.

Works well. Nice selection and availability of tips. Only negative I report here is the temperature control knob shaft broke on mine. Upon taking off the rubber feet and the 4 screws holding the case together I found the knob is way too flimsy (very tiny plastic shaft) for the tiny variable resistor control it turns. Just poor engineering/quality – the knob to control connection should be much more rugged for the price of the iron. Otherwise a nice functional tool.

The Weller WES51 is without a doubt the absolute best soldering iron that a working man can justify spending the money on. It’s the ONLY heavy duty iron you’ll ever find that allows exact temp settings for under a hundred bucks. It allows you to set the temp only a few degrees above the melting point of the solder, greatly enhancing the quality of your work. And it’s a heavy duty unit, so unlike the cheap lightweight ripoffs. The rugged and user friendly design reminds me of something made in the 1950s or 1960s. Well done, Weller!

We use this model soldering station at our business. We first purchased the previous version of this model and still have it. This version works basically the same way with the only difference being the way that the LED light on the front works. On the older version the LED was just an On or Off indicator, but on the newer version, it also indicates what heating state the iron is in (I.e. heating, or at temperature). We now have 3 of these units. Our company is in the Analog and digital panel meter business, and we are also a modification/repair center, so these units see daily use and sometimes use all day. These units have a great advantage over traditional soldering irons due to the added temperature sensor in the tip. This helps to avoid any overheating that may occur in a standard soldering iron. The price on these units as well as the nice tips they come with makes the choice between a cheap soldering iron and this unit simple. I would recommend this to anyone who uses a soldering iron on a regular basis.

After using this drill for several months, I still think it is the best drill/driver in this price/usage range. The batteries are excellent and the available power continues to satisfy me. This drill is lightweight, reliable, feels like quality and has the umph to drill even 2″ Rock Maple and drive 2″ lag screws into the same Rock Maple with no sweat. After living with it, I’d buy it again!

So, it’s not an industrial tool, but it gets the job done around the house. If you’re a contractor, you should probably opt for their professional in (cases are usually blue instead of this ugly silver). For example check out the BDF451. That’s an industrial tool which will probably (hopefully) be more reliable, has more power, and should be more precise. The silver stuff is made in China. However, not to hold that against them, it performs rather well. It has decent power. I returned it because the spindle doesn’t exactly spin perfectly on axis (so you get a bit of wobble when driving screws, and skipping since it doesn’t sit straight in the screw head as it turns). I have the BDF451 on order, and have higher hopes for it even though I am just a homeowner.

After nearly two years of heavy use my husband has stolen my drill from me. He loves it. Last weekend, he drilled through a steel beam in the basement. He’s hard on stuff, but the Makita drill has held up superbly. The batteries charge quickly as claimed too. I’d definitely buy this drill again.

I pretty much agree with all the glowing comments and praise. (By the way, why would you specifically buy an ultra compact drill for the task of mixing thin set–a task traditionally assigned to a low RPM high torque brute of a drill). I do wish that Makita had provided 1 or 2 holders for 2″ driver bits. They are hard to do without for our operation. The existing attachment points at the base of the handle meant for securing the belt clip (how do you get one of those?) could be used for securing a bit holder that doesn’t yet exist. How about it Makita? Alternatively, some clever entrepreneur could design and market this accessory. After all, it is clear that Makita is going to sell a gazillion of these near-perfect drills.

We purchased this tool to install the boards on our deck. The tool runs through almost any wood – so you need to be careful not to go too deep (lack of torque control so operators need to practice to avoid sinking screws too deep). Battery life was less than expected – fortunately we had two batteries so while we used one, we charged the other. My only other complaint is that the beasty toy has been destroying my quick release bits (why I’m online tonight). If you get this tool, you’ll want to invest in some good quality bits. Also, you can expect some noise (woodpecker on steroids) when the tool starts to get serious about putting the screw in so ear plugs are recommended.
