This is an expensive tool with expensive accessories, but in my opinion well worth it. I am an auto mechanic by trade and a homeowner that loves and appreciates quality time saving tools. Since my purchase 2 months ago I have used this tool to pattern cut and install a bath surround, cut and install plastic molding(using a simple adjustable square),trimmed out paneling while on the wall, removed a glued vinyl bathroom floor (with ease), plunge cut and removed damaged soffit material( with such precision that the removed wood could be used as a pattern for the new replacement wood)and scrape old paint off my house corners and soft fits. I am very impressed with the tool quality and ease of changing attachments. The profile sanding attachment works good. The storage box could be of better quality but it serves it’s purpose. If I were to purchase this again I would probably buy a bare bones kit and choose my accessories separately. I have some attachments I will probably never use and would gladly trade for more wood and metal cutting blades. Hope this helps you out!

After working for hours, trying to remove old carpet from our RV, I knew there had to be a better way. When I saw the advertisement for the Fein on television, I just had to give it a try. My husband thought I was nuts for spending that much on a tool, but when he used it to cut sheet rock for our new den, he changed his mind. We also used it when we remodeled a bathroom. It worked well for smoothing out the rough surface under the tile we had removed. The attachments are a little expensive, but worth it if you have a back breaking job to do. I’m so glad I took a chance, and purchased the MultiMaster.

My cousin let me borrow his and I was hooked. I bought one specifically to help with installing some replacement windows. The e-cut blade was superior to a reciprocating saw or hacksaw for cutting through nails to remove trim. You don’t have to worry about it plunging farther than you want. Scraper blade removes caulk with almost no effort.

I hemmed and hawed over this purchase for months before I talked to someone in a forum about it. They had the older, single speed model and loved it. I decided to go with that one, the “start” kit at about $180. I have no doubt that had I got this deluxe kit, or even tried the quick change version I would have been spoiled for life and could never go back to my bare bones model, but since I paid less than half for mine and have never known the sweet taste of VS or quick change blades I am as happy as can be. My advice is do not wait any longer to get a MM. It is worth it and you will not regret it, but if you can’t swallow the big price go for the older cheaper model. You will still be able to do everything you want this tool for, just not as luxuriously.

Fein Universal E-Cut Blade Review
Several reviews complain about the exorbitant cost of the blades for the Fein Multimaster. I compleatly agree with this. My solution was to start making my own. I bought a replacement dozuki blade, cut it in to three sections, welded each section to a piece of 16 gauge metal in which I had drilled the proper mounting hole. This week I was doing tile work so I bought a tungsten carbide hacksaw blade, cut off a couple inches and welded this piece of 16 gauge. These blades work Great! and at a small fraction of the cost Fein expects to get.

The Fein machine is the most versatile tool I have. The blades I purchased for it do what they claim to do–cut right through wood, laminates, drywall, and light metals. I wiuld have given them a five-star rating, but the pricing on these blades held me back. Great tool, but Fein has to do something about the cost of the blades.

As a remodeler and handyman, this producet can save countless hours of labor. It cuts through wood and hidden nails, screws and staples. Cutting out interior panels and hardware in built-in cabinets is made possible by by these unique blades. My only gripe, and it’s a big one, is the price–$75 for 3 blades. I’ve learned to be very careful not to use them when another tool will do the job. Even though they are made to cut through metal, striking a relatively thick nail, screw or bolt will ruin the blade very quickly. So if what you’re cutting is easy to get to, use your sawzall.

Love the tool, I own and operate a high volume door/millwork business. I use mine daily. The cost of the blades is way too high, but they can be re sharpened several times. There are several sharpening services in my area that sharpen everything from kitchen knives to bandsaw blades, the guy we use even comes to the jobsite to pick up the blades every few weeks and resharpens them right in his van. I use the metal+wood e-cut blades and the scraper blades almost exclusively. There is no other tool on the market that even comes close to performing like the multimaster, the cost to operate would make it too high if we did not sharpen our blades though.

After purchasing the Multimaster kit with multiple accessories, I was a little reluctant to use the E-cut blade for anything but wood. After a short time of usage, it was clear that I would need to cut through some nail embedded wood. I was shocked to see that blade was still sharp as new. I was sold immediately. I purchased additional blades only after I unknowingly cut through a couple drywall screws in a counter top. The blades’ teeth wore down from being razor-sharp to an almost toothless state. Believe it or not, I still use the blade when I’m not sure what is embedded in the wood and it still cuts! My suggestion for long life would be to avoid any hardened metal such as drywall screws, cut nails , etc and you’ll be happy with these blades.
